 HiFlux Filtration A/S has participated in a Climate-Ready advisory program to help strengthen our growth and competitiveness through CO2 calculation, climate strategy and climate communication.

This program has been instrumental in supporting the company’s environmental and sustainability strategy. In doing so, we have identified the areas where we have the highest Co2 emissions, as well as recommendations on how to move forward with reduction targets. Following internal meetings and workshops, we have now identified actions that contribute to CO2 reductions and will contribute to our targets under SBTi. This target was approved using a streamlined target validation route exclusive to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

HiFlux Filtration A/S commits to reduce scope 1 and scope 2 GHG emissions 50% by 2030 from a 2018 base year, and to measure and reduce its scope 3 emissions.

What did we gain from the Climate-Ready advisory course?

We have laid down the calculation principle for our CO2 contribution identifying areas and needed improvement.

Calculations:

Here is a description of our calculated carbon footprint – both direct and indirect. Including energy consumption, transport, etc. (Scope 1, 2 and 3)

Scope 1: Here the calculated values showed a very small share of the total emissions.
Scope 2: Here the calculated values showed a very small share of total emissions.
Scope 3: Here the calculated values showed that the company has clearly the largest emissions.

Recommendations:

Here are the recommendations we received to work on a strategy in order to reduce our carbon footprint.

• The majority of total CO2 emissions come from scope 3, mainly from steel and plastic procurement.
• Energy saving measures in house.
• Especially on the heat source for space heating there is a little more potential for a co2 reduction.
• Regarding company cars, there are also opportunities for a CO2 reduction by switching from diesel to electric operation.
• In order to reduce current electricity consumption, further CO2 reductions can be achieved by switching light sources to LED.
