Self-cleaning liquid filters optimize food production

As tradition dictates, HiFlux Filtration A/S is heading towards the leading Nordic destination for food technology. Participation in FoodTech is almost mandatory for the global producer of self-cleaning liquid filters, headquartered in Hedensted. The innovative filter solutions are spreading to more parts of the world, and since the last visit to Herning, new partnerships have been established in Australia, New Zealand, and Canada, while Turkey’s extensive food industry is now also benefiting from the advantages of the Danish liquid filters. Although the global activities have become an even larger part of the company, the desire to assist and serve the actors in the home market has by no means diminished. The food industry is the company’s largest customer segment, and the interest in production optimization is greater than ever before—both in the export market and in Denmark, declares Martin Holgaard, COO of HiFlux Filtration A/S. He notes, in particular, the growing attention to the reuse of residual products.
“It is one area in production where a significant gain can be achieved. When it is possible to filter the residual products and reuse them, it opens up new opportunities for many producers. A cheese producer can filter curds and reuse them, whey can be filtered and used for animal feed, and downtime can be reduced to a minimum by replacing manual bag filters with a self-cleaning process. We are seeing a growing desire for optimization throughout the food industry. How we can contribute is, of course, something we should have a dialogue about in Herning,” says Martin Holgaard, emphasizing that the increasingly strict hygiene requirements will also be one of the items on the agenda.
“We are receiving more and more inquiries regarding documentation and certifications. Our large presence in the food sector has meant that we have always prioritized staying ahead of developments. A fully automatic Auto-line liquid filter operates entirely without human intervention—in contrast to a manual filter that needs to be emptied, cleaned, and replaced. It’s not only the efficiency our customers are interested in. Safety in food production is a major focus area for nearly everyone at FoodTech ’24,” says Martin Holgaard.

Optimizing energy resources

The filter manufacturer’s strong commitment to the food industry is confirmed by the recent launch of a brand-new digital customer platform on its website, focused on food. The platform is tailored to each product group, allowing users to easily gain an overview of the requirements and needs of their specific industry and download documentation on all the benefits of self-cleaning filtration. The fact that the filter’s continuous cleaning process often results in a significant energy saving is also seen by Martin Holgaard as an entry point to further spreading awareness of liquid filters.

“We want to help optimize the use of energy resources for our customers. It is a big goal and an integral part of our strategy. We can feel that green ambitions are steadily growing in the food industry. We are looking forward to the fair, and there will be plenty to talk about,” concludes Martin Holgaard.
